Atlantic Tehuelche scallop<\/strong><\/h1>\n

As the name suggests, this species of scallop is native to the Atlantic Ocean<\/strong>, and is locally abundant on the sandy seabeds off the coasts of Brazil and Argentina<\/strong> (particularly in Esp\u00edrito Santo and the Golfo Nuevo).<\/span> <\/span>
<\/span>
The Atlantic Tehuelche scallop can reach a maximum length of 8 cm and has the following characteristics:<\/strong> <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. each valve features two auricles, with the right auricle (slightly) smaller<\/strong> than the left. Both have different radial ribs; <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. the shell is rounded and the valves are unequal in size<\/strong>. Width and length are nearly the same;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. compared to other species, this scallop shows 17 primary radial ribs, each composed of 3 secondary ridges.<\/strong> These ribs radiate from the hinge and are rounded in shape. They are narrower than the intercostal spaces and intersect with concentric lamellae; <\/span><\/li>\n
  4. the external coloration shows shades ranging from white, usually white or red with darker spots<\/strong>; <\/span><\/li>\n
  5. the interior coloration mirrors that of the exterior.<\/strong> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
