The Pacific scallop<\/strong> (Argopecten Purpuratus) is recognized by its fan-shaped shell and very robust valves.<\/strong> It\u2019s worth noting that the left valve is more convex than the right, which is slightly smaller.<\/strong> The shell also features two lateral extensions, known as auricles, distinguished by the presence of radial ribs (24 to 26, a significantly higher number than in other scallop species). The internal organs are protected by the mantle<\/strong>, which houses a strong adductor muscle that enables the mollusk to move swiftly. The male gonad is white, while the female gonad is reddish in color<\/strong>. This species is commonly found in the waters of Peru and Panama.<\/strong> Particular attention is given to scallop aquaculture in Chile, where this mollusk is cultivated thanks to its high productivity, resilience and strength. <\/span>

<\/span>Pacific scallops are highly valued in the Southeastern Atlantic<\/strong>: just think that in Peru<\/strong>, where they are known as concha de abanico, they represent the main aquaculture export product<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n
