This scallop species<\/strong> (Patinopecten yessoensis) is most commonly found in Pacific waters<\/strong>, from China to Japan and from Korea to Russia. It was later introduced for aquaculture purposes in the waters of Morocco, France and western Canada. <\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span>It is characterized by a shell with the following features: <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

  1. A circular outline; <\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Two valves<\/strong>: the left valve is convex, while the right valve is flatter; <\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Two auricles<\/strong> (lateral extensions) with 20 radial ribs, more prominent on the right valve; <\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A centrally positioned umbo<\/strong>. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n


    <\/span>The external coloration ranges from red to pink on the left valve, while the right valve is white.<\/strong> The inner surface is also white. <\/span><\/p>\n
